Character Breakdown:
Corie: (early - mid 20s) female, very pretty, utterly charming, intelligent, high-strung, impulsive and full of hope. A passionate free spirit very much in love with her new husband, Paul. Leading role.
Paul: (mid 20s) handsome, ‘buttoned-down’ and conservative, just embarking on his law career. He is intense, serious, self-absorbed, yet can be charming and witty with a dry sense of humor. Can be a bit priggish when faced with Corie’s exuberance. He is completely in love with Corie, spends most of the play trying to figure her out and survive the experience. Leading role.
Mrs. Banks: (mid 40s to mid 50s) Corie's mother. Lovely, warm, maternal. She worries about Corie, wants everything to be right, tries not to meddle, but can't help it. She is suburban and can be uptight, cares very much about "appearances." She "hovers," but is a "good sport." Leading role.
Victor Velasco: (late 50s) "The Bluebeard of 48th Street." Charming, debonair, vivacious. "It's not that he is in such good shape. He just doesn't think about getting tired." Speaks in stream-of-consciousness. Leading role.
Telephone Repairman (30’s-50’s): Dry, seen-it-all New Yorker. Smart. Rolls with the punches. Supporting role.
Delivery Man (60’s+): Poor worker who nearly has a heart attack as a result of climbing the six flights to the apartment. Needed - actor who can non-verbally express near-death. Non-speaking cameo role.
