About
One of the only programs of its kind in North County, MYT's Internship Program is designed as a “hand’s-on,” shadow program for youth interested in learning about technical theatre. Through the program, Interns will learn about the tools needed to move forward in a chosen field, including directing, lighting design, sound design, props, costumes, hair and make-up. Interns observe, train and collaborate with dedicated professionals and gain invaluable experience, build a resume, and make industry connections. Interns can also use their training as community service hours, which are vital for college applications

Why participate in the intern show?
MYT's intern-led production provides a unique opportunity for students to be in the driver's seat! Interns for this show will get to put their creative vision to work, taking the lead as Director, Choreographer, and other design-focused positions to get a fully-staged production on its feet at the AVO Playhouse. This hands-on knowledge is invaluable in terms of exploration of the performing arts and is often not available until college or beyond. Actors in this production will enjoy an intimate cast size and get to learn from and work with their peers in a truly one-of-a-kind, collaborative environment.

Moonlight Youth Theatre Offers Unique Internship Program, North County Daily Star
"I don’t like acting and this gives me the opportunity to be a part of theater without being on stage. I’ve learned basic stage directions and what is done behind the scenes. From costuming I’ve learned how to take measurements, how to sew on buttons, how to better use the sewing machines, how to make adjustments, and how to be creative with a budget.” Elizabeth T.
