Residency Program

Starting in 2023, Moonlight Youth Theatre began developing introductory Musical Theatre Residency Programs that bring arts education directly to our community partners.

These after-school classes are taught by professional theatre artists and introduce the students, many brand new to theatre, to the basics of acting, singing, and dancing. Through these after-school programs, MYT aims to break down common barriers that keep students from participating in the performing arts including:

  • Transportation; residencies take place at partner locations.
  • Finances; providing classes at low or no cost to students.

Current Residencies:

  • McAuliffe Elementary
  • Boys & Girls Club of Vista

Residency Types:

Musical Theatre Fundamentals

  • Can be 6 or 12 weeks.
  • More traditional class-style residency which offers 2 or 4 weeks each of basic Acting, Music, and Dance techniques.

From Script to Stage: Showcase Performance Residency

  • 8 weeks.
  • Students learn musical theatre basics in the context of putting together a showcase performance. Each age group learns scenes into songs from published material which culminate in a performance on the 8th week.
